What an affiliate link is
Some of the product links in our articles are affiliate links. If you click one and go on to buy something, the retailer pays us a small commission. The price you pay is exactly the same as it would be if you had gone to the retailer directly. You are never charged extra for using our links.
Amazon Associates
Motech is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Programme, an affiliate advertising programme designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon properties. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.
Other programmes
We also take part in affiliate and referral programmes run by software companies, electronics retailers and accessory brands. Where a link is commercial, it is marked in the article or sits inside a clearly labelled "Products mentioned" box.
How this affects what we publish
Commission never buys a recommendation. We choose what to cover based on what we think is genuinely useful to the audience, and we say when a product has drawbacks. If we have not tested something ourselves, we say so and explain what our conclusions are based on.
Sponsored content and gifted products
If a brand pays for a placement or sends a product free of charge, that is disclosed clearly at the top of the article concerned. Gifted products are returned or disclosed as retained, and payment never includes editorial approval of the copy.
Prices and availability
Prices, specifications and stock levels change constantly. Anything quoted in an article was correct at the time of writing; always confirm the current details on the retailer's own page before buying.
Advertising
This site also carries display advertising. Advertisements are supplied by third-party ad networks and are not editorial endorsements.
